We would love for you to share our work with your friends!

Texas is a state you might not think of when you think wineries, but they have their fair share. In fact, aside from the big hitters on the West Coast, Texas sells more wine than anywhere else in the country.

Seeing that the a town in Texas is actually called Grapevine, it would be a shame if they didn’t have a wonderful wine selection. Good thing they do…. and a marvelous one! Here are four of Grapevine’s wineries and tasting rooms that scored high with my taste buds.

Bingham Family Vineyards (620 S Main Street)

The Bingham Family Vineyards has been harvesting organic crops of grapes in the High Plains of Texas since 2003. They are only of the only Texas wineries that sell 100% estate bottled wines, which means that the wine was completely made on property and with all of their own grapes. At the Bingham Tasting Room in Grapevine, pair your tasty wines with an add-on cheese pairing. I loved this option!

Wines that I really liked were the 2015 Cloudburst, Turnrow, and Reserve Merlot 2014. There is a $10 tasting fee, but will be waived for club members. At the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic 2018, Bingham’s 2014 Cloudburst (a white blend) and our 2015 Dirt Farmer (red blend) both won 2nd place awards. The Bingham Family Vineyards tasting room in Fredericksburg will be open later this year.

Homestead Winery (211 E Worth Street)

This adorable Tasting Room inside of an 1890’s Victorian house in Grapevine. Visit the Homestead Winery for a fun wine tasting or to purchase Homestead’s Red River Valley (North Texas) wines. More than 20 varietals are in stock, including the ones I tried during my visit: Rose of Ivanhoe Knights, Prairie Rose, and Rose of Ivanhoe. Another tasty little number is the Chocolate Rose which goes over well with the ladies. The Homestead Winery’s tasting room has a small gift shop with fun wine accessories and whimsical trinkets.

Messina Hof Grapevine Winery (One Liberty Park Plaza)

The mother of all Texas wines, established in 1977, is Messina Hof, a highly awarded and regarded Lone Star state winery. It’s Grapevine tasting room is located in the original Wallis Hotel, built in 1891. The impressive wine list features over 40 types of wines including my personal faves: Private Reserve Paulo Texas, Sangiovese, and the Texas Sparkling Spumante. Premium flights are available as well as wine on tap by the glass or growler.Messina Hof’s tasting room also doubles as a wedding venue and is dubbed “an urban winery on Main Street”. Shop for gourmet food products and wine accessories while you are there. Be sure to try their Viognier, the best one I have had and one of my favorite varietals. Messina Hof also has tasting rooms/wineries in Fredericksburg and Bryan, Texas.

Consider using a case of delicious Messina Hof wines with custom-made labels for your special event as we did for my daughter’s wedding. It was quite the hit!

Delaney Vineyards (2000 Champagne Blvd)

Delaney Vineyards is an enormous estate vineyard (in fact, the biggest in North Texas) that puts you in mind of a classic French chateau. Their Grapevine tasting room is set smack dab in the middle of beautiful vineyards in the heart of town. What sets this winery apart from the others is that offers a wine tour with a tasting at the end. Delaney Vineyards has venue space, too, so keep them in mind for your special event.Try Delaney Vineyard’s popular wine choices such as Muscat Canelli or Texas Claret, though Three Daughters was my favorite. I like to cook with their 2014 Chardonnay.
